Microsoft Office Open XML
Since 2007, Microsoft began to use a file format docx, which is created by using the Office Open XML. The format is a zip-file containing the text in the form of XML, graphics and other data that can be translated into a sequence of bits using patent-protected binary formats. At first it was assumed that this format will replace the doc, but both formats are still used today.
Microsoft Excel Worksheet Sheet (97-2003)
XLS format is used to refer to the documents of the program Microsoft Excel. This file is a spreadsheet. All document data distributed and stored in the cells. Each cell has a unique address, which is denoted by letters and Arabic numerals. The cell can contain fixed data, and data in the form of formulas, which bind more cells.
Office Open XML Worksheet Sheet
XLSX is a file format created with Microsoft Excel, version from 2007 and younger. This file is a spreadsheet. All data distributed document and stored in the cells. Each cell has a unique address, which is denoted by the letters and Arabic numerals. XLSX file format is based on the Open XML. To reduce the size of the file is compressed ZIP.

Joint Photographic Experts Group
JPG extension was assigned to the image files. Many photos and web graphics are saved in JPG. In order to compress many bitmaps are saved in .jpg, that makes it easier to transfer and download these files on the Internet. JPG format based on the 24-bit color palette, the higher the level of compression applied to create the file JPG, the greater the decompression effect on image quality.
Joint Photographic Experts Group
JPEG is one of the most popular graphic formats used for storing still images and similar images. JPEG algorithm is capable of compressing the image as lossy and lossless. The most widely used JPEG received in digital photography and picture archiving and communication via the Internet. JPEG compression is not suitable for drawings, text and iconic graphics.
Portable Network Graphic
PNG is a raster graphic data storage format that uses lossless compression algorithm to Deflate. PNG was created as a free format to replace GIF. PNG supports three main types of raster images: grayscale image, a color indexed image and the color image. PNG format stores graphical information in a compressed form.
Encapsulated PostScript
This is a format for storing graphical vector images used in the Adobe Illustrator program and other software for processing vector graphics. EPS can have a binary or ASCII structure. It can contain raster images, 2D vector graphics and text. It’s also applied as a convenient format for transmitting images among several programs or operation systems.
Graphics Interchange Format
GIF is a format for the exchange of images. It is a popular format graphics. Capable of storing compressed data without loss of quality in the format of not more than 256 colors. GIF format was developed in 1987 (GIF87a) by company CompuServe for transferring raster images over networks. In 1989, the format has been modified (GIF89a), have been added support transparency and animation.
Icon
ICO is a file of this format usually contains a small image icons of different resolutions (16x16, 32x32, 64x64 pixels) and various color depths (16 colors, 32, 64, 128, 256, 16-bit, and so on). Audio Interchange File Format
Is a standard for storing audio files in Apple operating systems. It was developed in 1988 based on the IFF format and is a lossless format - audio data is stored in an uncompressed form. In essence, AIFF is an analog to WAV for the Apple Macintosh platform.
Free Lossless Audio Codec
This is open lossless codecs, developed under the Ogg project. Lately it’s become quite popular: many users wishing to store audio with original quality choose FLAC. This is partly in connection with the fact that codecs uses IDv1 and IDv3 tags - this allows a user to sort an audio collection according to one’s particular tastes, changing the original metadata of the tracks.
Ogg Vorbis Compressed Audio File
This format is free, which apparently is one of the reasons for its popularity. The used codecs supports variable bit rates (as a default), and .ogg files usually play back easily on all platforms. All things being equal, the sound quality exceeds that of mp3 somewhat.
Waveform Audio File Format
One of the most common audio formats. The format was developed by Microsoft (in collaboration with IBM) and usually stores uncompressed audio data with pulse-code modulation, but it can be used to store sound processed with other audio codecs.
Windows Media Audio
This is a proprietary format developed by Microsoft. Users have noticed low error resilience: sometimes insignificant damage to the file can cause the file not to play. Besides this, the closed format hampers its proliferation outside of Windows platforms.
Adaptive Multi Rate
This format was originally intended for voice compression and is able to change the bit rates of encoded audio data. AMR is actively used for encoding and decoding voice while its being transmitted over network channels. The format allows one to consider network capacity and adapt it to channel loads. Due to this, the voice quality is practically undiminished.
